As the 56th World Series of Poker (WSOP) gets underway, BonusFinder has set out to discover who Canada’s best poker players are.
The next edition of the World Series of Poker will take place in Las Vegas, NV from May 27 to July 16 2025. To honor the latest edition BonusFinder.com, Canada’s leading casino bonus and online casino review site, has explored the history of the tournament and its past winners.
BonusFinder looked into all 338 main event final participants, since 1971, and filtered the top Canadian finalists into nine categories to determine who are the most successful Canadian WSOP players of all time.
It must be noted that due to structural changes in the tournament over the decades, only players who reached the main event final table in the last 30 years (1995-2024) were considered for the top five rankings.

Duhamel’s win was a watershed moment and established him as not only a Canadian ambassador, but a global ambassador for the game.

Why does Canada dominate on the felt?
With a strong online poker scene, a generation raised on the 2000s poker-boom and accessible home games, it’s no surprise that Canada has put themselves on the poker map. Today’s poker stars were inspired by the likes of older poker legends like Chris Moneymaker and Daniel Negreanu – and are now rewriting the history books themselves.
