BonusFinder has analyzed over 25 high-intent casino and casino bonus-related search terms across each province, including terms such as ‘best online casino’, ‘casino welcome bonus’, ‘real money casino’ and more. Each province received a total interest score based on its relative popularity across all the terms.

According to the new analysis, Saskatchewan is the latest unofficial ‘casino capital of Canada’, leading the pack in search interest for casino-related search terms.

Canada's casino capitals list

1. Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan topped the ranking with a total score of 51.9; the western Province had high search interest for the more ‘generic’ casino and gambling search terms alongside bonus and promotion-focused terms, such as ‘best online casinos’, ‘real money casinos’, ‘casino welcome bonus’, and ‘casino sign-up bonus’.

Craps, roulette and blackjack also seem to be the most popular online casino games among residents, with search interest around terms for the three being the highest, whilst games such as keno and Slingo had no search interest at all in the province.

2. Ontario

Ontario followed closely in second place, with a total score of 46. Being the country’s biggest province, it’s no surprise that there are plenty of hardcore online casino fans. Some of the most significant search interests in the province were for specific games, such as ‘online blackjack’, ‘roulette online’ and ‘poker sites’.

The province also had one of the highest search interests for ‘Slingo’, a recent casino game combining slots and bingo. Promotion-focused terms, such as ‘no deposit bonus’, ‘100 free spins’ and ‘free spins no deposit’, had the lowest search interest in Ontario.

3.British Columbia

British Columbia placed third, with a score of 41.9. The province’s residents seem to be some of the most concerned with the legality and safety of online casinos, with ‘legal online casino’ being one of the most searched terms. These terms were joined by, again, more game-specific terms such as ‘online keno’, ‘online blackjack’ and ‘poker sites’.

Primary and promotion-focused terms were the least popular in British Columbia, with terms such as ‘online slots’, ‘online casino list’ and ‘casino games’ receiving only tiny amounts of search interest across the province.

4. Alberta

In fourth place is Western Province, Alberta, with a score of 40.7. Transactional search terms were the most popular among Albertans, with terms ‘play casino online real money’ and ‘fast payout casino’ having the highest search interest available. Game-specific terms ‘online blackjack’ and ‘roulette online’ also had high interest, showing the provinces more favored online casino games.

Other games, such as ‘Slingo’ and ‘online keno’, seemed unpopular among Alberta players. These terms were the only ones to receive no search interest over the last year.

5.Manitoba

Closing out the top five is Manitoba, with a score of 32.2. Again, like many of the other provinces, game and bonus-focused terms dominated the search interest in the province, including terms such as ‘Slingo’, ‘online blackjack’, ‘100 free spins’ and ‘casino welcome bonus’.

The primary and transactional-focused casino terms, such as ‘online casino list’, ‘legal online casino’, and ‘legal online casino’, received no search interest at all, showing that Manitoba residents know precisely what they want when it comes to online casinos.

Methodology

We analysed 26 different online casino-focused keywords using Google Trends, split into four categories;

  • Primary casino & gambling terms
  • Bonus & promotion terms
  • Game-specific terms
  • Transactional & navigational terms

BonusFinder collected data for all 10 Canadian provinces over the last 12 months. The final score was calculated using the average search volume across all terms.
