Online casino and sports betting operator, BetMGM, has officially brought its rewards collaboration with Marriott Bonvoy to players in Alberta.

Announced via a press release on August 4, 2026, the programme's province entry marks its debut foray in Canada, and comes just three weeks after Alberta launched an open and regulated online gambling market. BetMGM stood as one of 22 operators registered to serve customers in the region on opening day, July 13.

Now, through this rewards programme, Albertan players can claim the same travel-focused benefits that have been available to US users since 2024.

Programme to award global stays and experiences

By participating in the BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy rewards programme, players in Alberta may earn exclusive travel experiences by exchanging BetMGM Rewards points earned through the online gambling operator's various online sports and casino products.

The collaboration is an extension of BetMGM's Rewards programme, which itself grants prizes tied to retail BetMGM properties.

Marriott Bonvoy operates as the loyalty programme for travel company Marriott International, with a deeper assortment of premium retail prizes accessible by participants compared to BetMGM's standard rewards structure.

By using this exchange-based add-on, BetMGM states that eligible users may use rewards points to unlock stays and experiences on a global scale.

In order to partake in this programme, Albertan BetMGM players are required to link their online betting account to Marriott Bonvoy. This is because the Marriott Bonvoy programme is not native to BetMGM.

Account linking is available through the BetMGM mobile app, website and Rewards Store. Depending on which connection route users choose, the following steps must be taken to connect BetMGM to Marriott Bonvoy:

  • BetMGM app & desktop: Open 'My Rewards', select 'Marriott Bonvoy Rewards' and click 'Link Account'.
  • BetMGM Rewards Store: While in the Rewards Store, select 'Marriott' and then press 'Link Account'.

Once linked, users may exchange BetMGM Rewards points for Marriott Bonvoy Points by selecting 'Transfer Points'.

Marriott Bonvoy Points are redeemable for a range of rewards, including hotel stays, cruise experiences and air travel. Moreover, the company welcomes bids on Marriott Bonvoy Moments, where users compete for VIP access to sports, music and culinary events.

Gift cards, premium shopping lines, curated merchandise and the ability to donate to non-profit charity organisations are also included.

It is important to note that BetMGM Rewards points cannot be reverse-exchanged after being transferred to Marriott Bonvoy Points.

BetMGM CEO: Marriott Bonvoy connection offers unparalleled value

In a written statement, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt hailed the operator's Marriott Bonvoy connection as a value opportunity that players will not experience elsewhere:

"Our partnership with Marriott Bonvoy continues to be a powerful differentiator and is one of the most rewarding loyalty offerings in our industry," explained Greenblatt.

"By extending this programme, we're providing Albertans the opportunity to be part of a world-class loyalty programme with tremendous flexibility on points redemption. It's another way we deliver unique value that players cannot find anywhere else."

Alberta becomes the first Canadian province to integrate the BetMGM-Marriott Bonvoy rewards programme - and players registered with the iGaming operator are eligible to join the scheme at no extra cost.
