Online casino and sports betting operator bet365 has revealed the most popular games in Canada during May, as the British-led firm rolls out the first instalment of a new monthly transparency initiative.
The bet365 report, called the Gaming Insights and Performance report, showcased the most-played games across 20 different territories.
With nationwide and provincial breakdowns for bet365's Canadian ventures, the report allows for a peek behind the curtain at modern titles favoured by domestic players this summer.
Insights designed to inform future decisions at bet365
According to an accompanying statement, bet365 evaluated information pulled from player activity across 7,500 slot games to create this report. Moreover, the brand described that these findings will "inform ongoing strategic decisions" within its casino product.
The operator also noted a keenness to gain a "clearer understanding" for gaming ideals among its contemporary audience. To determine popularity, bet365 leverages an algorithm focusing on four key metrics:
- Engagement
- Stakes
- Revenue
- Sessions
Moving forward, similar monthly breakdowns are planned to be released - May's analysis marked the inaugural full-scale review for public consumption.
Spooky season starts early in Ontario
Players in Ontario have already begun counting down the days until Halloween, with Pragmatic Play's Big Bass Halloween 3 being the most-played game in the province - some five months out from the spookiest day of the year.
It marks the first time that the third instalment of this Halloween-themed series enters bet365's top 10 most popular games in the region.
Area Link Phoenix Firestorm maintained April's second position, while Gates of Olympus Super Scatter also matched the previous month's standing to round out the top three.
The period's biggest mover came in the form of 5 Lions Megaways, which jumped from 29th in April to seventh in May.
Meanwhile, Games Global's Area Link Bank Boss fell eight spots - tumbling from the top of April's chart - to become May's ninth most-played slot at bet365.
Games Global takes the crown
Isle of Man-headquartered software provider, Games Global, saw three of its slots at the summit of bet365's most-played online casino games in Canada during May.
First on the docket is Area Link Phoenix Firestorm - improving two positions from third in April - joined by Amazing Link Zeus in second. Another 'Link'-style game, Area Link Bank Boss, jumped upward to third, securing Games Global's nationwide dominance.
Two Pragmatic Play slots experienced sharp upticks in popularity at bet365, as Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe climbed 23 places to earn fifth on the operator rankings. Buffalo King Megaways enjoyed similar growth, scaling from 24th in April to sixth in May.
Two new entries stepped into focus by the month's end; Sweet Bonanza 2500 (seventh) and Temple Tumble (ninth) each recorded positive engagement throughout the analysed period.
Alberta data to be reviewed from July
Alberta is poised to launch a new, regulated online gambling framework from July 13, 2026, with bet365 Casino among several licensed online casinos in Alberta expected to serve local players from the outset.
Once live, bet365 will be able to independently audit Alberta's player data for forthcoming reports - it is anticipated that the first analysis to comprise Alberta figures will be published in September.
